Pictures Needed
To help with a portion of our corporate graduation ceremony, we need each graduate (we don’t want to leave anyone out) to email me (shabeeb@salem.k12.va.us) the following:

  • 1 favorite casual picture (as opposed to your official yearbook photo) from Senior Year of just the graduate

  • 1 favorite high school memory picture from any time during high school (group shots preferred)

Virginia Dept of Ed #GraduateTogetherVA & Nationally-Televised Event – May 16, 8:00 pm
The VA DOE has created a Graduate Together VA on their website. This page presents videos submitted by school divisions highlighting personal stories of Virginia graduates and the efforts of schools and divisions to honor them in spite of current social distancing restrictions.

The VA DOE would also like to encourage all students and their families to participate in the Graduate Together: America Honors the Class of 2020 event that will air on Saturday, May 16, at 8 pm on all major TV networks.  This event will honor the more than 3 million high school seniors across the country.

Chick-Fil-A Free Dinner for Spartan Seniors – May 19, 5:30-7:00 pm
Seniors may visit the Chick-fil-A Food Truck to receive 1 free meal between 5:30 and 7:00 pm. Pull up to the Food Truck (located behind the Salem Chick-fil-A) & stay in your car to receive your dinner.

Note: Social distancing guidelines must be followed & students will not be allowed to congregate.

Chick-Fil-A has a list of all Spartan seniors.  Please come prepared to show them ID so they can mark your name off their list.

Decorating Your Caps
SHS allows seniors to appropriately decorate their graduation caps.  Once you decorate yours, be sure to take a picture of it and post it on social media.  When you do so, please tag Salem High School so we can share your creativity with the world!

Corporate Graduation Ceremony – June 12 – 2:00 pm
We have recently received access to the technology we will use to make this event happen.  As this is being typed, SHS staff members are making preparations and learning to use the tools.  More information about accessing the event will be sent home soon.  To answer a question we have received, it will be during this corporate event when seniors are officially declared to be graduates.

Graduation Slide Show Survey – PAST DUE
This survey has closed, but we don’t want seniors to have blank slides when their names are called out during the June 12 ceremony.  Please email information for your slide to Mrs. Shannon at jshannon@salem.k12.va.us.

Individual Graduation Ceremony – June 13 – 10:00 pm – 6:00 pm
The more we work on this event, the more excited we get!  There are a ton of moving parts and details to bring together, so we prefer to wait until our plans are better developed before sending home information.  Go ahead and please block off on your calendars the following 2-hour period of time based on your last name:

  • 10:00 – 12:00    Ahlers – Crawley

  • 12:00 – 2:00      Cross – Jones

  • 2:00 – 4:00       Kelley – Robertson

  • 4:00 – 6:00       Robinson – Wright

You are loved and appreciated,

Scott Habeeb
